32 | There are 2 play yards; the front yard is used for younger preschoolers and the rear yard is designated for Pre-Kindergarten preschoolers. Both areas were observed to be free of debris. There are areas for shade and rest on both yards. Drinking water is available. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. There is wood and chain link fences around the playgrounds.
The Director is reporting that the kitchen is not used for food preparation. Parents provide food and snacks. Solid waste storage containers have tight-fitting covers and are in good repair. LPA observed water dispensers in all classrooms and in all play areas.
Prescription and non-prescription medication is administered by the director, who documents the date, time and dosage onto a log. Medications are stored securely and inaccessible to children in the director's office which has a refrigerator if needed.
The facility is equipped with a working smoke detectors and Carbon Monoxide detector. LPA observed three fire extinguishers (3A 40BC) located throughout the facility with service date of 02/07/2024. First Aid Kit was observed to be complete. Fire Drill log was observed to be complete and current. .
The facility has sufficient mats for napping. Each mat is occupied by only one child at time. CPR, Pediatric First Aid (completed on 07/17/2023), and Mandated Reporter Training certificates ( completed on 10/01/2023) were observed to be current. The name of the child care center director or fully qualified teacher designated to act in the director’s absence has been reported to the Department. LPA reviewed a sample of staff files and observed files were complete. LPA reviewed a sample of children files and observed two files missing a written medical assessment of the child. The children's roster was available and current.

Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
