25 | Due to Covid-19 mitigation measures, on 03/19/2021 at 09:09 a.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Antonio Almanza conducted an announced Tele-visit via Zoom at ORELLANA FAMILY CHILD CARE and met with the Licensee FABIOLA ORELLANA. The purpose of the site visit is for increase in capacity to the Family Child care License. The applicant is applying for a Large Family Child Care License to operate Monday to Friday from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm and serve children ages 0 year to 13 years of age. The applicant and her 2 teenage children were present during the visit. LPA was guided on a tour of the home located at 8134 CALHOUN AVE, PANORAMA CITY, CA 91402. There are no children in care during today’s visit. The single-story home is a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home with attached garage located across the street from Burton Elementary Street School. The home was inspected for safety, comfort, cleanliness, telephone service, heating, ventilation, inaccessibility to poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, and hazardous items that can pose a danger to children.
The Licensee states the main care will be provided in the living room and the bathroom that children in care will use is in the hallway off the dining room. The off-limits areas of the home are as follows: the 3 bedrooms, master bedroom bathroom, kitchen, laundry room, garage and storage room located in the backyard. The off-limits areas of the home have child safety covers and gate making the areas inaccessible. Licensee states children will nap in the living room and eat in the dining room. Parents will provide meals and Licensee will provide snacks. Applicant will use a cell phone for the family child care home and was advised that the cell phone should remain in the home while children are in care. LPA observed age appropriate toys and equipment for children in care.
There is a fully equipped 2A10BC fire extinguisher in the laundry room. The applicant places all sharp items, knifes in kitchen drawer with safety latch making it inaccessible to children. Medications will be kept away from children in top cabinet over washer inaccessible to children. LPA observed 8 cots and 2 cribs. LPA observed first aid kit and wall with required postings. LPA observed an operating Smoke detector in the living room and a C/O detector in the dinning living room. Cleaning supplies are kept under the kitchen sink with safety latch and over the washer machine in top cabinet inaccessible to children. Applicant stated there are no weapons or firearms in the home and LPA did not observe any.
