Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), V. Wheatley met with licensee Ava Brown at 9:15am for the purpose of conducting a case management inspection. The licensee is requesting a decrease in capacity from 27 infants to 20 (4 infants and 16 toddlers). The licensee is also decreasing this license to increase a separate preschool license. The infant license is for ages 6 weeks to 2 years old and the toddler license is for ages
18 months to 36 months.

LPA observed 4 infants on the premises today on the playground upon arrival and supervised by staff. LPA observed the facility operating in accordance with the Los Angeles County Public Health Guidelines in regards to Covid-19. LPA observed signs posted, sanitizing station at the front door and temperature checks. There is a camera monitoring children and staff on the premises.

The infant room is being relocated in the facility to the middle classroom in the building. There are two rooms that are back to back. One room will be used for activity space and the other room will be used for napping. One of the rooms was used as the licensee's office but will be used for napping. The applicant is planning to install a door between the two rooms to make it more convenient.

LPA measured the rooms and they both measured for 135 square feet = 4 infants.

The current infant room on the west side of the building is being converted into the toddler component. There are two classroom areas in these rooms. LPA measured both of the rooms which measured for 342 square feet = 10 toddlers and 207 square feet = 6
Total toddler component = 16 toddlers/children.

The classrooms were inspected by the Los Angeles Fire Department and granted a fire clearance. The facility is equipped with fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors.

There is a restroom adjacent to this room and has a separate sink which will be used for the younger toddlers. The sink is within arm's reach of the diaper changing table. There are cubbies in this room for personal belongings. There is also another restroom on the other side of the building with four toilets and four sinks.

LPA inspected the outdoor play space which has a separate side area for the four (4) infants. The licensee has agreed to install material around the fence to prevent the public from interacting with the children from the outside. The outdoor area measured 265 square feet = 4 infants.

LPA inspected the outdoor play space for toddlers. This play area is located directly outside of the facility from the toddler room. This yard measured 1170 square feet = 16 toddler children.

LPA inspected the kitchen which is used for preparing food for the older infants. The parents bring their food from home and the containers are labeled with the child's name. The food is served separately and individually. The kitchen is off-limits and the door will remain closed at all times.

A license will be granted when the following corrections are completed and submitted:

1. The desk and office equipment will be removed out of the north classroom in the middle of the building.
2. The south classroom will be fully set up with infant equipment.
3. Sign for kitchen door "off limits to children"
4. Hand washing signs at each sink in the facility
5. Place cribs in the napping room
6. Install a door in between the two classrooms
7. Outdoor area set up for infants with padding, toys and equipment
8. Install a cover around the fencing on the infant yard to prevent contact with the public.

Exit interview.

A copy of this report will be sent via email to the licensee by Read Receipt.
