| The teachers do the day-to-day cleaning in the classrooms; clean and disinfect as needed.
LPA Castellanos observed a total of four (4) fully charged fire extinguishers throughout the facility, four (4) smoke alarm and one (1) carbon monoxide detector in classroom 1. Additionally, all classrooms have a Pull Fire Alarm system. LPA observed a First Aid Kit, an Emergency First Aid Backpack and a Secure Captain Fire blanket (CE standard: EN-1869:2019) in the office/reception area
LPA Castellanos conducted a Health and Safety inspection of the kitchenette area, and all kitchen food preparation and storage areas are clean, free of litter/rubbish and free of rodents/vermin. All food is protected against contamination, and any contaminated food is discarded immediately. Solid waste storage containers have tight-fitting covers and are in good repair.
All toilets and hand washing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating condition. Floors in the facility are clean and safe. LPA Castellanos inspected the classroom and observed age-appropriate toys, books, and furnishings. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts.
Playground equipment is in safe condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. Areas around high climbing equipment, swings and slides have cushioning material to absorb all falls.
The facility only provides snacks throughout the day. Per staff member 1 (S1) parents ensure they provide the meals for their children, which comply with dietary restrictions and allergies. LPA discussed the importance of maintaining a system where allergies and food restrictions are noted. LPA observed an allergy list posted in the kitchen area as well as every classroom.
Drinking water from a container is available to the children in care both indoors and outdoors. Children bring in their own refillable water container.
Prior to working or volunteering in a licensed childcare facility, all individuals subject to a criminal record review have received a criminal record clearance or exemption. Upon notification from the Department, the licensee will comply and act immediately to terminate the employment of, remove from the facility or bar from entering the facility for any person it is deemed necessary while the Department considers granting or denying an exemption.
