25 | On 12/15/2023 at 11:15am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Sarah Garcia conducted an unannounced Required Inspection at the above-mentioned facility. LPA was greeted by licensee, Monica Anderson. During the initial inspection, LPA observed 5 children in care with one assistant. Facility operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Currently licensee is available to care for children 0 years old to 12 years old. Facility is Small Family Child Care Home with a max capacity of 8. Licensee does not provide transportation to children.
LPA toured the home inside and outside. The home is a single family home with 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, dining room, family room, kitchen, play area, attic/office, outdoor area and garage. Licensee confirmed the following areas are designated for day care only: play area, bedroom #1 (kids room), bathroom #1, and outdoor play area. LPA inspected the play area and observed the space with age-appropriate toys, materials, and children's tables. LPA inspected bedroom #1 and observed mats to use for sleeping children in the storage closet. The bathroom #1 that children use is located next to the bedroom #1. LPA inspected the bathroom #1 and observed a safety latch under the sink to ensure medications, toxins or cleaning compounds are inaccessible to the children in care. LPA inspected the living room and observed the space to be clean and orderly. LPA inspected the living room and observed a metal panel around the fireplace. LPA inspected the dining room and family room. LPA inspected the dining room and observed a metal panel around the fireplace. In the family room, there is a staircase that leads up to the attic/office. The staircase is barricaded by an ottoman. LPA observed a safety gate separating play area and kitchen area. LPA inspected the kitchen and observed the knives and sharp objects to be made inaccessible with a safety latch. LPA observed a safety latch under the kitchen sink cabinet to ensure all poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, medications and other items which can pose a risk to children in care made inaccessible.
