32 | Children have their own cubby to store their belongings. Six wooden cribs were observed in a separate designated sleeping area of the room. Storage for infants’ belongings and napping equipment/cribs was inspected and meet all regulatory requirements. Per Staff, linens are provided by facility and washed by staff weekly. LPA observed wall unit changing tables available with cushioning in nap area and activity area both within arms reach of sink. LPA discussed diaper changing procedures with S2.
Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated and are in operating condition. Per S2, the isolation area is located in isolation area of room that will be kept separate from other infants. LPA observed a wooden crib available in the isolation area for ill children. Parents are contacted immediately when children are determined to be ill. Availability of drinking water was reviewed, per S2 infants are provided water through their bottles which is taken outside. LPA observed first aid kit kept in cabinet and was inventoried for necessary supplies.
Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medication and other items that are dangerous to children, were observed to be inaccessible. At 3:10 PM, LPA observed medicines stored in open plastic bin in cabinet in classroom. LPA did not observe child's name labeled on 3 of 4 medicines and no date on 4 of 4 medicines at time of inspection. Per S2, 3 of 4 medicines were for a child no longer attending facility, LPA observed S2 dispose of medicines at time of inspection. Facility has one or more functioning carbon monoxide and smoke detectors that meet statutory requirements.
All kitchen areas/food preparation areas and food storage areas are kept clean and are free of litter, rubbish, rodents, and/or any other vermin. LPA did not observe bottles, dishes, and containers to be labeled with infants’ names consistently visible. LPA did observe names re-written on bottles during inspection, per S2 bottles are labeled but erase after multiple washes. LPA did not observe dates visible on all children's bottles and in refrigerated items. Formula and snacks are provided by parents and dates observed. Menus were reviewed to ensure that they are being posted at least one week in advance and visible to an authorized representative. The facility provides snacks and meals for infants who eat table food (per needs and service plan). All storage containers for solid waste, including moveable bins have tight-fitting covers that are kept on, and in good repair. All foods/beverages are stored in covered containers at 45˚ (F) or less.
