25 | On 3/12/25, at 8AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Joe Katrdzhyan conducted an Unannounced Required – 3 Year inspection to the above facility. Upon arrival, LPA met with Staff / Jacqueline Maldonado and was joined by Interim Director / Lorena Castro, shortly after. LPA disclosed the purpose of the visit. Entrance Checklist – Child Care Centers was provided to the Interim Director. BURBANK YMCA CHILDRENS CENTER PRESCHOOL is licensed to serve for a capacity of 146 preschool children, ages 2 years to entry to first grade.
The preschool program consists of 5 classrooms (classrooms 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7). The following staff/children were present during this inspection: Room 3: 3 Staff & 12 children, Room 4: 0 Staff & 0 Children (currently not being used), Room 5: 2 Staff & 9 Children, Room 6: 2 Staff & 5 Children and Room 7: 2 Staff & 10 Children. The facility was observed to be within the license capacity and limitations. Facility operation hours are Monday to Friday from 7:00AM to 6:00PM.
LPA was taken on a guided tour of the facility of both indoors and outdoors. The furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. LPA observed surface of classrooms to be safe and clean, and child size tables and chairs available for children well maintained. LPA observed learning stations for dramatic play, math, and science with toys well maintained free of loose and sharp parts and a library area available for quiet play. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. There were cubbies observed as storage for children's belongings. Mats/cots were inspected. Per Interim Director, Linens and blankets are provided by the parents and are taken home weekly for washing. Availability of drinking water was reviewed. LPA observed personal water bottles for children in each classroom. The facility utilizes a water filtration system for the children in care. One system is located inside the facility, in the hallway, near the children's bathrooms, and another is situated outside by the play area, also near the children's bathrooms.
