32 | swings, playpens and all such equipment and furniture shall be assembled or installed according to the manufacturer's instructions and shall be maintained in good repair and safe condition. No swings or playpens were observed during visit.
LPA advised toys shall be safe and shall not have sharp points or edges or splinters or be made of small parts that can be pulled off and swallowed. Rattles shall be large enough so that they cannot become lodged in an infant's throat and constructed so that they will not separate into small pieces.
LPA Lowe observed individual permanent storage space for infants clothing, personal belongings and/or bedding. All materials and surfaces accessible to children, including toys, were observed to be free of toxic substances.
Drinking water from a Brita container was observed to be readily available both indoors and in the outdoor activity area. Director stated the Synagogue has a pest control service to assist in keeping the center free of flies, other insects, and rodents. All containers used for storage of solid wastes, including moveable bins, were observed to have a tightfitting cover that is kept on and in good repair. No fireplaces and open-faced heaters were observed at facility. All window screens were observed to be in good repair and free of insects, dirt and debris.
LPA observed disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons and other items that could pose a danger to be inaccessible to children. LPA advised storage areas for poisons shall be locked. LPA observed a, sterile first-aid dressings, bandages or roller bandages, adhesive tape, scissors, tweezers, thermometer, and antiseptic solution.
LPA Advised any infant in the isolation area shall be under constant visual observation by a director, an assistant director, a teacher or an aide. Director stated isolation area will be located in the director’s office. LPA advised the isolation area shall not be located in the kitchen area or the general-use toilet area.
Facility was observed with a carbon monoxide detector located in room 9 (crib room). Smoke detectors were observed in each room. Director tested detectors and LPA was able to hear a successful test. Facility was observed to have working telephone service on the premises.
Facility uses Brightwheel App as a sign in/out and communication method for families.
