Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Emily Peraldi and Rowena De Guzman, Community Services Specialist (QA) from North Los Angeles County Regional Center conducted an unannounced required annual visit. At 9:30 a.m., the LPA and the QA met with staff and explained the reason for the visit. At 10:34 a.m., the Licensee and the Administrator arrived at the facility. This annual had a specific emphasis on infection control practices and procedures. At 10:15 a.m., the LPA, the QA along with staff toured the physical plant areas inside and outside to ensure there are no health and safety hazards and that the facility is in compliance with Title 22 Regulations.

KITCHEN: Knives are stored in a locked kitchen drawer. Kitchen appliances are in operable condition. The facility has a sufficient supply of perishable and non-perishable food. At 10:21 a.m., hot water measured at 106.1-degree F. Medications are centrally stored and in a locked cabinet near the kitchen. The laundry units are located near the kitchen. BEDROOMS: The LPA observed the client bedrooms, which were furnished appropriately with clean linens, appropriate furnishings and sufficient lighting. RESTROOMS: Restrooms were observed to be clean and sanitary with hand soap, toilet paper and paper towels. At 10:19 a.m., the hot water temperature tested at 112.2-degree F. OUTDOOR SPACE: At 10:22 a.m., the LPA observed the back patio which has a covered outdoor area for client use. Cleaning solutions, toxins, chemicals and hazardous items were inaccessible and locked away inside the locked outside sheds. COMMON SPACES: All indoor and outdoor passages were free of obstruction. At the time of the visit, living room and dining room furniture was observed to be in good condition. The LPA observed the fire extinguishers to be fully charged and last serviced on 07/14/2022. Signs are posted throughout facility to promote handwashing, and cough/sneeze etiquette. At 10:28 a.m., fire/carbon monoxide detectors were tested and functioning properly. INFECTION CONTROL: Upon entry, the facility has a central entry point for symptom screening and temperature checks. The LPA observed a 30-day supply of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). The facility’s policies and procedures as it pertains to infection control are adequate. No deficiencies were observed at this time. Exit interview conducted. A copy of the report was provided.
