25 | On February 22, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kris Diaz, conducted an unannounced required 3-year visit. LPA met with Licensee, Veronica Flores who guided LPA on a tour of the home. People who reside in the home are the Licensee and her spouse who are live scanned and have TB skin test on file. The large family childcare home operates Monday-Friday 6a-6p. At the time of the visit there was 1 child in care with the licensee.
This is a two-story home with 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, kitchen, family room (daycare room), formal living room, dining room, laundry room, and garage. Children have access to the daycare room, bathroom down the hallway next to the laundry room, kitchen, dining room, enclosed front yard and the backyard. Off-limits areas of the home are the entire upstairs, bedroom # 5 downstairs (office), formal living room, and garage. LPA observed a safety gate at the bottom of the stairs to make the area inaccessible. LPA observed safety knobs on the laundry room, downstairs closet, and office doors to make the rooms inaccessible. LPA observed several age-appropriate toys and activities in the daycare room and the backyard.
The home was inspected inside for comfort, cleanliness, telephone service, heating, and ventilation. Medications are stored in a kitchen cabinet on the top shelf made inaccessible to children with a safety latch. The kitchen knives are stored in an upper kitchen cabinet inaccessible to children. Cleaning compounds are stored away in the laundry area inaccessible to children.
The First Aid kit is located in the closet in the daycare room inaccessible to children. Per licensee, there are no weapons or firearms in the home. LPA did not observe any weapons or firearms. Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors are in operable condition. The Fire Extinguisher was green and fully charged and meets the standards of the State Fire Marshal. Licensee’s First Aid/CPR expires 1/2026. LPA will verify validity with management. The licensee had the required immunization against pertussis (TDAP) and measles (MMR). Mandated Reporter Training is current and Preventative Health and Safety Training was completed.
