25 | On 3/19/2024 Licensing Program Analysts(LPAs), Maddox and Ortega conducted a Case Management inspection to follow up on the required lead testing regulation PIN 21-21.1 CCP. Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, Health and Safety Code Section 1597.16 requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010 to test their drinking water for lead contamination between January 1, 2020 and January 1, 2023, and then every 5 years after the date of the first test.
During inspection, facility submitted a waiver requesting to be exempt from lead testing due to facility being built in 2013. Although, facility was built in 2013, (documentation provided) facility does not utilize water for drinking nor food preparation. LPAs observed filtered water fountains and according to facility children bring their own individual water bottles and children may refill their water bottles as needed.
LPAs Maddox and Ortega completed a walk through and observed 8 staff and 28 children present. LPAs also, observed five toddlers under the age of five years in the yellow room. According to facility they have the toddler component option. (Preschool Application indicates a toddler request).
A review of records and children's records were conducted as part of this evaluation. According to records, the Fire clearance is currently pending with the Fire Department. LPAs informed facility a written parent/legal guardian consent shall be obtained and be accessible on file for every child participating in the toddler option. |
