25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Crystal Green conducted an unannounced require 1 year inspection. LPA met with licensee, Davie Brown, who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. Also present during this inspection was co-licensee, Letty Brown. During this inspection, there were 7 children which 2 were infants. Licensee states that there are currently 10 children enrolled.
This is a single- story home which consists of 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, kitchen, living room, guest house (in the rear), and backyard which is fully fenced. Licensing staff observed a fireplace in the living room that was made inaccessible by a child proof lock. The children use the living room, 2-bathroom, guest house (in the rear), and one bedroom (nursery) in the home. Children have access to the kitchen and laundry area as well. The children use the restroom in the hallway and the restroom located in the garage. Per licensee, areas off limits to children and parents include: 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. LPA obtained an updated facility sketch during this inspection. Per the licensee, the garage has been fully converted to an ADU. The licensee provides food for children in care.
Family members residing in the home are 2 adults (criminal record clearances on file). Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
Areas accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating or safety and comfort. There were safe toys, play equipment and materials observed for children. There is a working telephone service maintained in the home. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children should be made inaccessible. The licensee states that there are no poisons in the home. The licensee does understand that poison must be locked with a key or combination lock. |
