32 | There are toys and other age appropriate material available for children. Smoke and carbon monoxide was tested and operable. The hallway leading to the stairs is screened to prevent access by children. LPA observed that detergents, cleaning compounds and medication are inaccessible to children. Licensee was reminded that all poisons must be lock, not only inaccessible to children. Isolation area for sick children waiting to be picked up is in the living room, away from the other children. There is a firearm on the premises. LPA observed the firearm to be secured within Title 22 regulations.
Currently Licensee cares for three infants. Infants currently sleep in cots. Napping equipment does not block entrances or exits. Infant mattress was observed to be firm with tightly fitted sheets. LPA did not observe loose object, bumpers, objects hanging, or objects attached to the crib. There is one infant that uses a pacifier. Per Licensee wet or soiled sheets are changed and washed immediately. Each infant has their own bedding. Bedding is washed weekly. LPA reminded Licensee of the new Safe sleep regulations, including LIC 9227 Infant Sleep Plan for infants under 12 months and 15 minute sleep check documentation for infants 0-24 months. Per Licensee, overnight care is not provided at this time.
Children are using the backyard for outdoor play. The outdoor play area was observed to be fenced. LPA observed that the outdoor yard has toys and other materials for children to play with. LPA did not observe any objects that could be hazardous to children in care.
LPA observed an in ground pool with a steel fence that meets all of Title 22 regulations. LPA evaluated pool area for safety. LPA observed the following safety equipment was available: A rescue pole with a body hook and a fixed length of 12 feet, a life ring with an exterior diameter at least 17 inches with an approved label from the United Stated Coast Guard. Pool alarm was tested and operable.
Children’s records were reviewed for (LIC) 282- Affidavit Regarding Liability Insurance, Immunization Records, LIC 700- Identification and Emergency Information, LIC 627- Consent for Medical Treatment, LIC 995A Notification of Parents’ Rights, LIC 9227- Infant sleep form (0-12 months, and documentation of 15 minute Infant Sleep Check (0-24 months). Staff records were reviewed for approved Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification (expires 05/2027), LIC 508- Criminal Record Statement, LIC 9052- Employee Rights, Proof of immunization against measles, pertussis and influenza or influenza declination, TB clearance or risk assessment, LIC 9108- Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Child Abuse (expires 07/01/26).
