Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Veronica Martinez Garza conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection at the above facility on 06/13/24 at 10:24 a.m. LPA met with Arlene Vargas, licensee’s daughter/assistant who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. According to the assistant, Agueda Vargas (licensee) is not home. Licensee Agueda Vargas arrived at approximately 10:43 am to assist LPA during the inspection; however, licensee had to leave due to a personal appointment. Licensee left at 10:54 am and stated she will return as soon as possible. There were 10 children present during this inspection. Also present during this inspection was the licensee’s second assistant Beatriz Atempa and licensee’s mother. Per licensee, 14 children are enrolled. Operation hours Monday through Friday from 06:30 a.m. - 06:30 p.m., Saturday 10:00 am - 10:00 pm, Sunday from 10:00am – 7:00 pm. Licensee arrived at 11:38am and assisted LPA with the rest of the inspection.
This is a two-story home which consists of 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room, garage, front (fenced) and back yard (fenced). Areas accessible to children include 1 bedroom which is the main day care room (adjacent to the living room), and 1 bathroom (inside the main day care room). Areas off-limits to children and parents include: 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, partial left side of the backyard, and garage. According to the licensee, there is 1 small dog and 1 parrot on the premises. Per licensee, family members residing in the home are 4 adults and 0 minors. All individuals present in the home have obtained a criminal record clearance or exemption prior to working, residing, or volunteering in a licensed home and are identified on the attached LIC811.
LPA toured all areas identified on the facility sketch used by children during this visit and were inspected for safety, comfort, and cleanliness. Tour began in the main day care room where LPA observed toys, materials, and equipment for children in care.
