25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Franchesca White conducted an unannounced case management inspection to follow up on incidents that were reported to the Department on 8/22/2023 and 8/24/2023. Upon arrival, LPA met Director Shannon Batista and Licensee Mena Sangani, who provided LPA a tour of the facility inside and outside. All staff have current background clearance at the time of inspection.
Wonderland Preschool self-reported two incidents to the department on 8/22/2023 and 8/24/2023, regarding allegations of violated personal rights of Child 1 (C1) and Child 2 (C2) reported to the Director, Shannon Batista. The facility reported the incidents to the Department within the required 24 hours.
During this inspection, LPA White observed 73 preschoolers, and 15 school age children giving a total of 103 children in care at the time of inspection. LPA White observed seven classrooms during nap time. LPA observed Room #2 to have eleven preschoolers and one staff , Room #3 to have 12 preschoolers and one staff, Room #4 with 9 toddlers and one staff, Room #5 with 19 preschoolers and two staff, Room #7 with 14 preschoolers and two staff, Room #8 with 23 children and two staff members, and Room #9 with 15 school-age children and one staff. LPA White interviewed staff at facility, conducted observations teacher interactions during nap time and outdoor play time.
During LPA White's review of the incident that occurred 8/22/2023 with C1, footage revealed that C1 was not handled in a harsh manner. LPA White observed S2 and S3 present during the incident providing supervision and care to children. LPA White has a copy of video footage.
LPA White reviewed footage of incident that occurred 8/24/2023 with C2. Footage revealed that S4 did not punch C2. Video footage shows C2 was sleep, and S4 was engaged and providing supervision and care to multiple children.
