32 | Allegation #1: Staff force feeds infants in care
The complaint alleges Staff #1 has been aggressive with feeding bottles to children in care. During interviews conducted, four staff stated they have observed Staff #1 force feed an infant a bottle. Staff #2 stated, “(Staff #1) doesn’t take the indication that they don’t want the bottle anymore and try to have them finish the bottle. If you tell (Staff #1) they don’t listen and ignore you. We have tried to tell the office and they have had a talk with (Staff #1). Staff have witnessed (Staff #1) and babies are kicking their feet and fighting the bottle and (Staff #1) is determined to make sure they get fed.” Staff #3 stated, “(Staff #1) is feeding the baby and they cry like they don’t want it anymore and (Staff #1) keeps on feeding the baby and forcing the baby to drink the milk. I tell (Staff #1) not to, but they still do it.” Staff #3 stated they have observed Staff #1 force feed an infant a bottle twice. Staff #4 stated they observed, “a child was really fussy and squirming around and I said “they don’t want it. Try again later. Then (Staff #1) turns in a way we can’t see (Staff #1) force feeding the bottle.” Staff #6 stated, “I have told (Staff #1) numerous times to stop and there are times they would ignore me and continue. (Staff #1) wants the child to finish the bottle to the last drop and if it takes the whole hour til the bottle finishes, they would do it”. Staff #6 stated they have seen (Staff #1) force feed an infant “every day”. During interviews Staff #1 was asked when they stop feeding an infant a bottle and they replied, “When they finish the bottle”.
Allegation #2: Staff uses inappropriate language with infants in care
The complaint alleges that a staff member in the infant room was observed getting frustrated with children in care and has been observed stating “ugh stop! You're due for a bottle, ughh just drink” and “ugh stop, your soo annoying “.
During interviews conducted, Staff #2 and Staff #6 stated they have observed the same staff member get frustrated with an infant and say “ugh stop! Your due for a bottle, ughh just drink” to infants in care. Staff #6 stated they have observed the same staff member get frustrated with an infant and say, “ugh stop, your soo annoying “.
