25 | An unannounced Required – 1 Year Inspection was conducted on 10/14/2022 at 9:20 AM by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Katrina Chicote. Facility is currently licensed for a capacity of 60. Licensing staff met with Early Learning Center Managers (ELCM) Natasha Von Jackson, Olivia Ugarte and Head Teacher Sophia Jackson. Facility is located on Burroughs Elementary School campus operating in rooms B1, B2, and B3. The program currently operates Monday thru Friday from 7:45 AM to 2:45 PM. LPA singularly toured facility both indoors and outdoors. LPA observed required postings in each classroom on bulletin boards upon entry.
At the initial start of the site visit, there is a total census of 18 children present. LPA observed 12 children playing outside with S1 and S2, three children in B3 with S3 and S4, and two children in B2 with S5 and S6. Beginning at 9:35 AM, furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. LPA observed child appropriate tables and chairs, learning stations for dramatic play, math, science, and art filled with child appropriate toys well maintained free of loose and sharp parts available in each classroom. There is a library area available for quiet play. LPA observed carpets in learning stations well maintained and floor free of hazards in each classrooms. There were cubbies observed as storage for children's belongings. Mats/cots were inspected. Per Head Teacher, linens are provided by the facility and washed by laundry service weekly. Parents also provide blankets that are taken home weekly. Availability of drinking water was reviewed. LPA observed water pitchers with paper cups available in each classroom. Age appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected for availability, good repair, water temperature, toilet paper, area safety and sanitation. LPA observed bathrooms available in each classroom with two toilets and two sinks each. LPA observed B2 and B3 to have diaper changing table that meets Title 22 Regulation requirements.
Per ELCM there are no poisons stored at the facility.
