32 | During the investigation, LPA Lee observed that outbreak of hand foot and mouth disease was not reported to the regional office since the Director confirmed that an incident report was not submitted to the office regarding this matter. This is a potential risk to children in care. The facility was cited on this date on a separate 809 report on this date since it is technically separate from allegation about staff cleaning the classroom.
Although it is possible that the conditions of the physical plant may have contributed to a child becoming ill at the facility, it is also possible that conditions of the classroom may have not been a factor. For example, even if a classroom is properly cleaned and disinfected a child came become ill from being in contact with other children or staff members at the facility. It is also possible that a child care may have gotten sick from being in an area that is outside the facility. A child in care or staff members do spend time in their homes, and in other locations prior to coming and leaving the facility throughout the week.
Based on the evidence collected during the investigation, the allegations that staff are not cleaning the day care properly may be valid. However, there is not enough preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violation(s) did or did not occur, therefore at this time the above allegations are found to be unsubstantiated.
The notice of site inspection must remain posted for a period of 30 days during hours operation. Failure to maintain posting will result in a civil penalty of $100.00 dollars.
