25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Crystal Green conducted an unannounced annual inspection. LPA met with licensee, Faith Taylor- Jones, who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. The licensee is also requesting a capacity increase from a small family child care home to a large family child care home license. There were 6 children present, 1 being an infant. Licensee states that there are currently 7 children enrolled. The operating hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am til 6:00 pm.
This is a one- story home which consists of 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, kitchen, living room, and backyard (fenced). Per licensee, the children have access to all areas of the home. The LPA toured all areas used by children during this visit. LPA observed a fireplace in the living room that was made inaccessible via a table barricade. Family members residing in the home is 1 adult (criminal record clearances on file). Licensee has 1 pet dog that is allowed in the areas used by the children. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
Areas accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for safety and comfort. There were safe toys, play equipment and materials observed for children. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children are inaccessible in some areas of the home. The licensee states that there are no poisons in the home.
Per licensee, there are no weapons, firearms or bodies of water on the premises. Children’s records were reviewed to ensure that each child has an Identification and Emergency form.
