25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Mireya Garcia conducted an announced licensee-initiated case management inspection. A risk assessment was conducted prior to entering the facility. Due to COVID- 19 precautionary measures were taken, licensing staff present during inspection wore appropriate personal protective equipment. LPA met with licensee, Socorro Tamayo who guided analyst on a tour of the facility both indoors and outdoors. The licensee's two (2) adult daughters were also present. There was one (1) infant present upon LPAs arrival. Licensee states that there are currently eight (8) children enrolled. The purpose for this inspection was due to the licensee's request to increase to a Large Family Child Care Home.
Family members residing in the home are 3 adults (criminal record clearances on file) and 2 minor children. This is a one-story home which consists of front yard (fenced), 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen and in the back yard (fenced) area there is a converted garage with a play room (main day care room), restroom, laundry room and a guest house with one (1) bedroom and one (1) bathroom.
Per licensee, areas off limits to children and parents include: Four (4) bedrooms (3 located in the home and 1 located in the guest house), (2) bathrooms (1 located inside master bedroom and 1 located inside guest house), laundry room, guest house and back yard gated area where there are two (2) sheds, guest house and two dogs are kept. The LPA toured all areas used by children during this visit.
Areas accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for safety and comfort. Licensee had latches on kitchen/bathroom cabinets with any potentially hazardous material. There were safe toys, play equipment and materials observed for children. There is a working telephone service maintained in the home. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children are inaccessible in some areas of the home. Licensee states that there are no poisons in the home.
