32 | Snack menus were posted in front visible to the parents month ahead. Per Director, children bring their own lunch or have an option for catered lunch. Facility provides AM and PM snacks. Food preparation and storage areas observed clean. Snacks were inspected for availability and quantity for children in care.
All storage containers for solid waste, including movable bins shall have tight-fitting covers that are kept on, and in good repair. Trash cans used to discard food have tight fitting lids. Drinking water is readily available both indoors and outdoors, children bring their own water bottles too. The facility was observed to be free of flies, other insects, and rodents.
The staff lounge area and staff restroom are used for the ill children. Cot will be available upon request. Outdoor playground equipment is in safe condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. All areas around or under high climbing equipment, slides, and similar equipment are cushioned with material that absorbs a fall. There is adequate shade in the play yard.
Sign in and out sheets were reviewed to ensure that the person who signs the child in and out uses their full legal signature and records the time of the day. Facility uses a program called Pro Care to sign children in and out. Children’s Records were reviewed to ensure that Identification and Emergency form and a medical assessment are on file. Inspection of required forms was made and documented on LIC 857.
At 2:30PM, LPA reviewed staff records. During the review, LPA observed staff member Tania Flores and staff member Emily Torres, did not obtain Criminal Record Clearance. LPA did not observe staff members Criminal Record Clearance on Guardian system. Per Director their HR person checks on DOJ website and let the facility know regarding staff members clearance. Per Director, Tania Flores was provided incorrect form. Additionally, Director stated they did not receive letter regarding Emily Torres even though it shows facility address, since to many entities under the same address. Director stated staff will be sent home until Criminal Record Clearance obtained. LPA explained the process regarding obtaining fingerprint clearance. Per Director, policy will be in place to prevent future incidents.
There is at least one person trained in CPR and Pediatric First Aid present during this inspection. The review of Staff records was documented on LIC 859.
