Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Lilli Babcock and Saul Valenzuela conducted an unannounced Case Management visit to follow-up on the Noncompliance Conference held on 5/2/24. A COVID risk assessment was conducted. LPAs met with Director, Maribeth Peralta, to whom the reason for the visit was explained. Director guided LPAs on a tour of the facility. Census was taken. There were 12 staff present caring for 81 children. The facility was observed to be operating within the license capacity limitations. During the tour, LPAs observed Classroom 3 with 19 children and 3 staff. LPAs observed a child sweep a tower of magnetic tiles towards another child, and then the same child hit another child in the shoulder area. LPAs observed the teachers in Classroom 3 to be attending to other children at the moment this occurred. Director helped pick up the tiles from the floor and directed a teacher who was across the room, to come and supervise the children at the table. LPAs observed several children crying in the classroom.

During the visit, LPAs observed signed LIC 9224’s for children in care, as required from the Noncompliance Conference. LPAs also observed the Ratio Log for 8/28/24 and observed it to be complete. LPAs toured all areas of the facility accessible to children and observed no hazards or unsafe areas of the playground. LPAs observed the facility and bathrooms to be clean, sanitary and in good repair. Furniture and equipment were inspected for good repair, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. All indoor classrooms were inspected to ensure that the floors have a surface that is safe and clean. Napping equipment (cots) and bedding were inspected for good condition, appropriate storage, and cleanliness.
