25 | On October 1, 2024, at 1:10 PM Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Priscilla Ochoa and Licensing Program Manager (LPM), Ana Chico, conducted an unannounced annual inspection at the above facility. LPA and LPM were greeted by licensee, Magdalena Rodriguez. The licensee’s 2 assistants were also present for the inspection. There are 13 children enrolled and LPA observed 10 children in care. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
Family members residing in the home are 4 adults who have criminal record clearance and 1 minor child. This is a two-story home that consist of 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, pantry, garage, back yard which is fenced.
Areas accessible to children are 1 bathroom (downstairs next to the kitchen), living room, kitchen, dining area and backyard.
Off limit areas are include 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, which are located upstairs, pantry and garage. Per licensee there is a cat and lizard that are in the home in off limit area away from the daycare children.
Licensee guided LPA on a tour of the areas that are accessible to the children in care. Upon entrance, LPA observed the staircase, which is blocked by a baby gate, making the upstairs inaccessible to children in care. Then LPA observed the living room where children were napping. LPA observed napping equipment in the form of mats and playpens. Napping equipment and bedding were inspected for good condition, appropriate storage, and cleanliness. LPA observed bedding in 2 playpens were not firm and not flat at the surface. LPA advised the license that the mattress should be firm and flat. Per licensee, sheets and bedding are washed at the facility. Next, LPA toured the kitchen area, where knifes and clearing solutions were observed in a locked cabinet, which were in assessable to children in care. There is a baby gate that separates the kitchen from the living room area. Children use the bathroom that is next to the kitchen. LPA then observed the back yard which is fenced and age-appropriate toys for children in care were also observed.
