Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Veronica Martinez Garza conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection at the above facility on 02/28/25 at 12:35 p.m. LPA met with, Miriam Montiel licensee who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. There were 10 children present during this inspection-3 being infants. Also present was the co-licensee/husband Hector Montiel. Per licensee, 14 children are enrolled. Operation hours are Monday – Friday 06:00 a.m. – 05:30 p.m.
This is a one-story home which consists of 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, garage, front yard and backyard (fenced). Areas accessible to children include the living room, dining room, 1 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom, and front yard (fenced) for play. Per licensee, areas off limits to children and parents include 3 bedrooms, 2 bathroom, garage, and back yard (fenced). Per licensee, there is 1 dog on the premises. Per licensee, family members residing in the home are 4 adults and 1 minors. All individuals present in the home have obtained a criminal record clearance or exemption prior to working, residing, or volunteering in a licensed home and are identified on the attached LIC811.
LPA toured all areas identified on the facility sketch used by children during this visit and were inspected for safety, comfort, and cleanliness. Tour began in living room/dining room where LPA observed age-appropriate toys, equipment, and materials for children LPA also observed child sized tables and chairs, cubbies for children’s belongings, and more materials for children in care. LPA also observed (2) infants napping inside their play pens with blankets. LPA observed that each play pen had a crib sheet hanging on the side. (1) infant was laying inside their play pen fully awake with a crib sheet hanging on 1 side, had a blanket, and had a pink beaded string attached to the pacifier. It is unknown if the infant had recently woken up from nap. Licensee removed the infant that was awake from the play pen. Licensee and co-licensee immediately removed all crib sheets and blankets. LPA observed a well mounted child proof gate at the entrance of the kitchen.
