25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Nolan Tcheng and Crystal Green conducted an unannounced Case Management-Licensee Initiated inspection for the purpose of changing capacity for existing components. Upon arrival at 9:20am, LPAs met with Site Supervisor Vanessa Alegria, to whom the purpose of the inspection was explained. There were no children present during the time of inspection as the facility is on summer break. Tour of the facility was provided.
This facility is currently licensed as a preschool with a toddler option with a capacity of 36 children: (18) preschoolers ages 2 to 5 years old in the preschool classroom and (18) toddlers ages 18 to 36 months in the toddler classroom. The Licensee, The Modern School House LLC. has requested to change their licensed capacity of toddlers to (6) and increase the preschool capacity to (30). The overall licensed capacity will remain at (36) children. The hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.
LPAs continued to tour the facility. LPA observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe, age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, napping cots, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children.
LPAs observed a total of 2 sinks and 2 toilets designated for toddler children’s use. The preschoolers have a total of 2 sinks and 2 toilets, which are sufficient to accommodate the licensed change in capacity. Licensing staff also observed a changing table located near the toddler entrance that was not within arm's reach of a sink. Per the Site Supervisor, children enrolled in the toddler program must be able to stand while the staff assists with their diaper-changing needs. The changing table is available in the event that staff is not able to leave the toddler classroom to assist the child. Facility Representative was reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing.
