LPA observed a total of 9 sinks, 6 toilets, and 3 urinals available for children’s use. These are sufficient to accommodate the requested overall capacity of 60 children. The School age restroom afford privacy for the children. Licensing staff observed the proposed school age restroom to be currently used as a storage space. Per Applicant Representative, Zhaoyuan Huang, the proposed school age restroom has not been in use and will need to be cleaned and serviced by a plumber. LPA Green attempted to flush the toilet and observed the toilet to be non-operational. There is a separate staff restroom equipped with a toilet and a sink. The isolation area for children who are ill will be the staff restroom.
Facility will provide Am/Pm Snacks and Lunch. The kitchen area currently includes sink, refrigerator, stove, and microwave. The kitchen area and food storage areas were observed to be free of rodents and/or vermin. Food was observed to be properly stored separate from cleaning materials. Hazardous items in kitchen are inaccessible to children via the door leading to the kitchen is always kept locked.
The facility currently has a fully fenced playground area for each component. Fencing is made of brick and is at least four feet high. The total square footage for all the outdoor activity space for the preschool is 4,381.92, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity. The total square footage for all the outdoor activity space for the school age program is 1,411.53, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity. Shade is provided via fixed shade structures. There are sufficient outdoor age-appropriate toys and play equipment available on the playground(s). There is a climbing structure on the preschool playground for children ages 2 to 5 years old which is properly anchored. There is adequate cushioning in fall zones of climber provided by outdoor cushion mats. Drinking water is available via gallon water jugs. LPAs observed the proposed designated School Age outdoor activity space located under the patio area to be cluttered with storage items such as filing cabinets, tables, chairs, and storage bins. Per Applicant Representative, Zhaoyuan Huang, informed that she will have the items removed from the patio area. Applicant Zhaoyuan Huang was reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing.
For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1- CCP). LPA Green informed Applicant Representative that she will need to obtain lead testing if the previous owner did not conduct lead testing at the facility. |
