LPA observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe, age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, napping cots, cribs, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Infant toys are safe with no sharp edges, splinters, or points, nor made of small parts that can present a choking hazard. Drinking water will be available to children via water bottles into each child’s personal water bottle. LPA observed all hazardous items to be inaccessible to children. There are no bodies of water or weapons on the property. Fire clearance was granted on 12/30/2024 by the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
In the infant room, feeding tables have broad-based legs, plastic seats are in good repair and trays lock onto chairs. Changing tables have at least 1” padding covered with moisture-resistant, washable material. Sides of the changing table are at least 3” high and the changing table is within arm’s reach of a sink. Diapering sink is not used for meal preparation or dishwashing. LPA observed 4 cribs available, which meet regulatory requirements. Crib area is separated from activity space via a fixed structure wall partition. This barrier is at least four feet high, made of sound absorbing material and allows for supervision of napping children. Sleep logs are kept in the Infant Room. Needs and Services Plans and Sleep Plans are kept in the Infant Room.
LPA observed a total of 2 sinks and 2 toilets available to the preschool children. These are sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of preschool children. LPA observed 2 sinks and 1 toilet located within the infant classroom. LPA observed the infant toilet to be made inaccessible, per applicant representative children enrolled in the Infant program are not required to be potty trained by the staff. There is a separate staff restroom equipped with a toilet and a sink that is accessible to staff in the main office of Sunflower Learning Center. The isolation area for children who are ill will be located in the Director’s office which is located near the Infant Room. The ill children will use the staff restroom.
The facility will provide AM/PM snacks and lunch will be provided by the parents. There is a kitchen area located on the premises between the Infant classroom and the Preschool classroom. The kitchen area includes a refrigerator, sink, and food prep countertop. The kitchen prep area was observed to be free of hazards. The kitchen and food storage areas were observed free of rodents and/or vermin.
The facility currently has a (2) fully fenced playground areas: Infant Yard and Preschool Yard. The fencing surrounding the playground area is made of wrought iron fencing which was observed to be at least four feet high. LPA obtained measurements of the designated infant outdoor area which calculated to be 2,389.94 square footage, which can accommodate the requested infant capacity. |
