This is a single-story home which consists of three bedrooms, two restrooms, kitchen, living room, front yard and backyard (both fenced) and detached 2-car garage. The home was inspected for safety, comfort, cleanliness, telephone service, heating and ventilation, inaccessibility to poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, and hazardous items that can pose a danger to children.

All required licensing forms were observed visibly posted on board by living room.

Areas used by children include: Bedroom #1 and bedroom #2 located in the front of the home next to the living room, bathroom (located in the hallway next to the front bedrooms), living room, kitchen, dining room and front yard with porch.

The home is clean and orderly and has central heating and air conditioning. The kitchen has cabinets secured with safety locks and magnetic locks ensuring detergents, cleaning products and other items which can pose a danger to children are inaccessible. LPA observed a wine refrigerator locked with safety locks making items that can pose a danger to children inaccessible.

LPA observed COVID-19 postings at entrance of home along with hand sanitizer, gloves and masks.

Emergency Disaster Plan was posted at the time of inspection. Children’s records were reviewed to ensure that each child has an Identification and Emergency form and found to be complete. The valve on the required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged, last purchased on 06/2020. Licensee was advised to have Fire extinguisher serviced by the end of the month. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the living room were tested and are in operable condition.

The Licensee and Assistant have current EMSA approved Pediatric First Aid and CPR, which will expire on 04/2022. The Licensee and Assistant have completed the Mandated Reporter Training. Licensee and Assistant presented roof of immunization against influenza, pertussis, and measles on this date.

The following was discussed: Individuals who are 18 years of age or older living in the home must obtain a criminal record clearance. Individuals within one month of their 18th birthday must be fingerprinted immediately. Failure to obtain a criminal record background check clearances prior to initial presence in the home will result in an immediate $100.00 dollar or more per day Civil Penalty.

Rooms that are off-limits need to be made inaccessible during operating hours. No smoking, No infant swings, walkers, No Johnny jumpers, No saucer chairs, No trampolines and any other item that falls into that category are not permitted in the facility. Effective January 1, 2010, licensees of family child care homes are required to ensure that at least one staff member with current training in pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR is on site at all times when children are present.

Mandatory Forms for the children’s files and staff files, requirements for fire drills, earthquake drills and documentation were discussed. Role and responsibilities of being a Mandated Reporter were reviewed. The Licensee was advised how to access forms and Regulations online at www.ccld.ca.gov. Licensee was made aware that it is his/her responsibility to know the regulations as well as anyone who assists in providing care.

The New Safe Sleep Regulations (PIN 20-24-CCP) was discussed and provided. LPA provided Infant Sleep Log to be completed for every infant 12 months and under.
