Licensing Program Analysts (LPAS) A. Padila and R. Derraco conducted an unannounced annual inspection to the above facility on 05/31/24. LPAS arrived at the facility at 12:45PM and met with licensee, Mario Amaro, who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. Also present during this inspection was an assistant, S2. Per Licensee, there are 5 children that are currently enrolled. There were 3 children and 2 infants present upon arrival.

This is a one-story home which consists of 2 bedrooms, 1 bathrooms, kitchen/dining room, living room, a detached garage, front yard and backyard (fenced). The off limit areas include 1 bedroom, kitchen/dining room, living room, detached garage and front yard. Hours of operation are M-F 5:00 Am- 10:00PM Sat-Sun 6:00 AM- 2:00 PM

The main care area is located in bedroom 1. 1:00 PM LPA observed a couch, age appropriate toys, a ceiling fan, child sized chairs and child sized tables. Sleeping mats and a play pen were also observed in bedroom 1. The bathroom designated for children in care was observed to be clean and free of defects. The outdoor play area was observed to have perimeter fencing and adequate shade. 1:15 PM Play equipment for children was observed to be free of sharp and/or broken defected parts. A storage shelf was observed to hold additional day care supplies in the outdoor play area. A plastic bin located on top of the storage shelf was observed to have cleaning supplies. 1:25 PM The licensee states that he provides food for children in care. Per licensee, isolation area for children showing signs of illness will be located in bedroom 2 while the child awaits parent pick up.

1:30 PM Individuals who reside in the home were noted and discussed. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Licensee states that there are no firearms stored in the home. LPAS did not observe any weapons or fire arms during time of inspection. Licensee states that there are no pools or bodies of water at facility. LPAS did not observe any of these items during time of inspection. LPAS did not observe the following items during the inspection: Infant Walkers, Johnny Jumpers, Saucer Chairs.

Emergency Disaster Plan, Parent’s Rights Poster and the Facility License were observed to be posted in the main care area. LPA did not observe any objects that can pose a danger to children in care. Per licensee, he owns pet cats that is kept in the off limits kitchen area. 1:35 PM LPAS observed pets to be in pet crates in off limits area Smoking is prohibited in a licensed Family Child Care Home. Per Licensee, no one smokes in the home.

All areas identified on the facility sketch that are accessible for children to use were inspected for safety,


comfort, and cleanliness. There is telephone service via a cellphone that is used and the cellphone stays at the facility during operation hours. Day care area was observed with safe toys, play equipment and materials.

Detergents, cleaning compounds, and other items which could pose a danger to children were observed to be locked in a cabinet that houses the laundry appliances. The licensee states that there are no poisons in the home and understands that storage areas for poisons must be locked, not just inaccessible. The valve on the required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged with a purchase receipt of 10/2/2023. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were observed but not tested during inspection due to napping child. LPA observed green light on smoke detector.

1:40 PM LPAS reviewed licensee and other personnel files and have completed training on preventive health practices including Pediatric First Aid and CPR. The licensee's Pediatric First Aid and CPR expires on 09/09/2024. 1:50 PM LPAS observed that assistant S2 CPR/FIrst aid certification expired 7/2023 and will need to renewed. 1:52PM A Technical Violation (TV) was issued for S2 expired CPR/First Aid certification. LPAS observed that the Licensee and assistant do have proof of the Mandated Reporter AB 1207 compliant Child Care Training Certificate on file and both expire on 6/20/25. 2:00 PM Children’s records were reviewed, including emergency information and were observed to be complete. A current children’s roster was available for review.

Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee [or facility representative] of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02- CCP. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.

During the exit interview, the LICENSEE Mario Amaro, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS.
