Detergents, cleaning compounds, sharp objects and hazardous items that can pose a danger to children are inaccessible to children in care. Knives and sharp objects are kept in a upper cabinet in the kitchen, currently there are no medicines in the home but applicant stated medicines will be kept in an upper cabinet out of reach for children, cleaning compounds are kept under the kitchen sink and bathroom sink in latched cabinets. There is a laundry area that has been made inaccessible with a safety gate. Laundry detergent is kept in this area in an upper cabinet. Per Applicant, the children will be escorted to the restroom depending on age of the children. Personal Hygiene items in the bathroom are inaccessible to children. Per the applicant, there are no poisons other than cleaning compounds in the home. LPA advised that if any poisons are kept in the home at a later date to keep them in a locked cabinet or container.
LPA observed a combination smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector in the kitchen. LPA observed Applicant push the test button which indicated it is operable. LPA observed a 3A40BC fire extinguisher which indicates full and indicates it was serviced on 12/2021. Fire extinguisher is kept in the hallway. The home has electrical outlet covers throughout the day care area and maintains an emergency kit. A first aid kit for everyday use was not available. LPA did observe age appropriate materials and toys available for children. LPA observed napping cots. Per the Applicant, children will nap in the living room and in the two bedrooms. Applicant stated there are no firearms or weapons on the premises. Per the applicant there are no bodies of water on the premises. LPA did not observe any bodies of water on the premises.
Per the Applicant, if a child becomes ill, they will be taken to the living room area and the other children will be separated in the bedrooms. The kitchen is on limits to children but only during meal times. Per Applicant, food will be provided for children in care and children will be supervised while eating in the kitchen. LPA observed one high chair and a small table for up to 4 children. LPA advised Applicant that high chairs are to only be used for eating during mealtimes. Applicant was advised that if food is brought from the children’s homes, the container shall be labeled with the child’s name and properly stored or refrigerated.
The on limits outdoor area that will be used is the fenced front yard and side driveway. The fence opens up to Deeble St and it will be kept locked during operating hours. This outdoor play area is accessed through the laundry room and through the front door. Children will access the outdoor play area through the front door only. The door in the laundry room will be kept locked. There is grass throughout the yard. Applicant was advised to pull sticks of a plant that were sticking out in the front yard. Per Applicant, children will be supervised while playing outside.
