The off limit areas are inaccessible by a safety gates and door knobs expect the stairs. At 2:35pm, LPA observed there was not a gate at the bottom of the stairs or around the stairs. Per Licensee, a contractor will be adding a stair railing and a gate.

Knives and other sharp utensils are located in high cabinet in the kitchen. Cleaning products were located in cabinets locked with safety latches under the sink in kitchen.

The home was inspected for safety, comfort, cleanliness, telephone service, heating and ventilation, inaccessibility to poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, and hazardous items that can pose a danger to children.

The home is clean and orderly, there are outlet covers throughout the home. Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detector were observed, tested and found to be operable.

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with applicant and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed applicant of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

During inspection all children were observed to be treated with dignity and respect, they were observed to be receiving safe, healthful and comfortable accommodations, furnishings and equipment, and free from corporal and/or unusual punishment.

**In the absence of the licensee a qualified adult must be present supervising the children; a qualified adult is an individual who has a valid and current adult/infant CPR & Pediatric First Aid certification, TB clearance, immunization, Mandated Reporter training certificate www.mandatedreporterca.gov, and a valid criminal record clearance associated to the facility license. **Children and Staff records must be maintained and updated as needed and must be available for review by the Department. **No infant walkers, No Johnny jumpers, No saucer chairs, No trampolines and any other item that falls into that category are not permitted in the facility. **Inspection Authority: All adults living and working in the home shall be made of aware of the Department’s right to inspection the home, which includes, but is not limited to the right to enter the home when children are being cared for, interview children and adults and review documentation. **A current roster of children enrolled must be available and maintained for a period of three years, even after children no longer are attending the facility.

Applicant was reminded that all adults 18 and over living in the home, persons who provide care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
