Knives are kept in an upper kitchen cabinet, cleaning compounds are kept in a latched cabinet under the sink. Personal medicines are kept in an upper kitchen cabinet. The facility administers medicine. Per Licensee, one child enrolled requires medication. Medication is kept in an upper kitchen cabinet. Heating and ventilation was evaluated. There is an A/C wall unit available in the living room and there is a portable heater available if needed. LPA did not observe any wall heaters or fire places. The children use the restroom in between the bedrooms. LPA observed personal hygiene items in the restroom in a latched cabinet under the sink. LPA did not observe cleaning products or medicine in the restroom. Per Licensee, children use the front yard for outdoor play. The Licensee shares a driveway with the other tenants on the premises. Licensee has installed a safety gate separating the play area and the driveway. Per Licensee, Children are supervised while playing outside. Per Licensee, there are no poisons in the home. Licensee understands that all poisons must be locked, not only inaccessible to children. Isolation area for sick children waiting to be picked up is in the living room, separated from other children in care. Per Licensee, there are no firearms or weapons stored in the home. LPA did not observe any pools or spas, or other bodies of water. Per Licensee, there is one pet dog. Dog is contained in an off limits bedroom.
Infant Care: Currently licensee cares for three infants. There are two play yards available for younger infants and the older infant naps on a napping cot. LPA discussed the following with Licensee: Napping equipment shall not block entrances or exits. There shall be no loose objects in the crib or hanging off the sides of the crib. Licensee was advised Infants shall not be swaddled in care. Car seats shall not be used for sleeping.
Children's records were complete. Children's records contained Immunization Records, LIC 700- Identification and Emergency Information, LIC 627- Consent for Medical Treatment, LIC 995A Notification of Parents’ Rights, LIC 9227 and 15 minute infant sleeping logs. Staff records were reviewed: Licensee's EMSA approved Pediatric CPR/First Aid expires on 2/5/2024. Licensee's Mandated Reporter training expires on 9/9/23. Assistant 1's EMSA approved Pediatric CPR/First Aid expires on 2/5/24. Assistant 1's Mandated Reporter training expires on 9/12/23. Assistant 2 currently has not completed pediatric first aid/cpr. Per Licensee, Assistant 3 does not stay alone with the children. All staff have documentation of TB clearance and immunization to measles, pertussis, flu (written declination).
Incidental Medical Services (IMS): Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed.
