25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) R. Derraco and A. Padilla conducted an unannounced case management visit to the above mentioned facility on 04/19/24. LPAs arrived at the facility at 9:30 AM and was met by licensee, Cleo Thomas, who guided analysts on a tour of the facility. LPA observed 1 additional adult and no children in care. The home was observed to be clean and free of defects.
The purpose of this visit is to observed the the fence that surrounds the in-ground pool located in the back yard. The back yard area designated for the pool is made off limits by a 2nd gate located in the back yard play area. LPAs observed a mesh fence stretching from the property wall to the wall of the off limits garage/pool house. LPAs observed 4 gaps in the fence that measure 2 inches in width for each gap. Metal posts hold up the mesh fence was observed to be cemented in the ground. The height of the fence measures at 5 feet 1 inches. The gate at the fence was observed to be self closing and opens away from the pool. The latch was observed at the top of the gate. The latch was observed to be 4 inches from the top. A key is needed to unlock the latch in order to gain access past the gate. The latch was observed to be self latching. The gate was also observed to be self closing. LPAs tested both devices and observed them to be operating properly. LPAs observed that the mesh fence does not readily bend upon impact. Per licensee, the walk way in front of the fence is an off-limit area. Licensee states that the fencing will remain in place whenever licensed care is provided. Licensee also states that the living room is an off-limits area, however children in care will use the area to walk to the main care area during arrival and pick up. LPAs took pictures of the pool area and the surrounding fence.
A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee Cleo Thomas. |
