available for children. At 9:27 AM, LPAs observed Bathroom 1 to have operable toilet and sink, adequate hand washing and toileting supplies, and general area safety and sanitation. LPAs observed a high storage cabinet in Bathroom 1 to contain additional toileting and handwashing supplies and to be free of hazards at time of inspection. The Applicant was advised that any poisons such as detergents, cleaning compounds, and medicines must be made inaccessible or stored somewhere with a key or combination lock. At 9:32 AM, LPAs observed these items stored up high in hallway closet making it inaccessible and in under cabinet sink in off limits Kitchen. LPAs discussed putting a lock on cabinet under sink to make these items inaccessible to children as, per Applicant, children will be using Kitchen as a walkway. Applicant was also advised that inaccessibility of hazards must be constantly reassessed depending on the children in care.
Per Applicant, the children will use the driveway and back yard for outdoor play which is accessible through Kitchen. At 9:35 AM, LPAs observed driveway to have concrete through out and have perimeter fencing and backyard has concrete patio area, grassy area, and adequate perimeter fencing through-out the yard. LPAs observed small plastic play structures on driveway and patio furniture in additional backyard play area. LPAs observed all trees, shrubs, and plants are maintained at time of inspection. LPAs observed detached garage in outdoor play area that was locked and a storage shed in corner of backyard grassy area that had a lock at time of inspection making it off limits to children. At 9:38 AM, LPAs observed hazards such as garden rakes, iron fencing leaning on wall, and open BBQ grill in backyard. LPAs discussed removing these hazards from backyard.
At 9:48 AM, LPAs observed the valve on the required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged but with no service tag or proof of purchase receipt at time of inspection. Per Applicant, this fire extinguisher was provided by Crystal Stairs and she was not provided a receipt. LPAs advised that a proof of purchase or service within the year is required. At 9:49 AM, LPAs tested smoke detector and observed to be in operable condition. LPAs did not test Carbon Monoxide detector at time of inspection. Applicant states that she does not have a Carbon Monoxide detector at time of inspection. LPAs discussed requirement. Per Applicant, First Aid kit is kept in the Kitchen, LPA observed First Aid kit and was inventoried for necessary supplies. The Applicant has current Pediatric First Aid and CPR valid until 02/18/2025 and has completed the required Health and Safety Training, Nutrition, and Lead Training. Proof of immunization against influenza, pertussis, and measles was readily available during today’s inspection. The Applicant has taken the Mandated Reporter Training on 03/23/2023.
