On this day, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Brannon met with Instructor Coordinator, Traci Triplitt. This facility has been inactive and has been placed on active status. Day care children will be starting on 8/9/21. This facility provides a full-time and part-time session. Hours of operation is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Facility is located on the Madera Community College Campus on Ave 12.

LPA inspected and measured the classroom. Approximate square footage is 887. This will accommodate the current capacity of 24 preschool children. The following items were discussed and need to be addressed before the children arrive on Monday, August 9, 2021. Photographs of correction will be emailed to LPA Brannon:

1) Remove or anchor the art open shelving unit that measures 4'11' high, 4'11" wide and 1'4" depth. This piece of furniture should be either removed or anchored. There are glass bottles on the top that can fall when a child runs into it, stumbles into it or if there was an earthquake. This is a health and safety concern. Per Ms. Triplitt, this item will be removed until staff can anchor the art shelving unit. LPA informed Ms. Triplitt and lead teacher that glass should not to be placed on top of this shelving unit.
2) There is five pieces of shelving made with dark finish. There are four cubes and one shelving unit. Theses pieces are not anchored and can be tipped over. Per Traci, these five pieces of furniture will be reconfigured or will be anchored.
3) Licensee will provide water pitchers with disposable cup dispensers and disposable cups for uncontaminated drinking water for children in care. These items will provide drinking water for inside and outside.
4) The outside climbing structure has dirt and spider webs. Per Ms. Triplitt, the climbing equipment will be cleaned before the children arrive on Monday.

5) There are low hanging limbs from the mature tree in the outside play area. The low hanging limbs will interfere with staff providing visual supervision of children in the outside play area. Per Ms. Triplitt, the limbs will be trimmed back before the children arrive on Monday.
6) The outdoor shed has nails protruding. These nails are in areas accessible to children and pose a safety hazard. Per Ms. Triplitt, the nails will be nailed into the wood.
7) The outdoor shed has a foundation board that is damaged. There is an area that needs to be sanded to ensure children will not receive splinters.

Items to be fixed by 9/6/21:
1) The metal chain link fencing screws are longer than 3-4 threads. These are a safety concern to children in care.

Capacity items to be addressed by licensee by August 20, 2021.
Upon arriving at the facility, LPA observed at 8:40 AM that there is only 10 cubbies. The cubbies can provide space for 20 children, if licensee utilizes the top and bottom space for belongings. The licensed capacity is 24 preschool children. LPA counted the chairs in the classroom, there are 23 child size chairs. LPA reviewed capacity and equipment requirements to meet the licensed capacity. Ms. Triplitt informed LPA that they only have at the most 16 children attending the facility. LPA reminded that the facility is licensed for a capacity for 24 preschool children. LPA reviewed with Ms. Triplitt required documentation to change capacity for preschool children.
