32 | The outdoor activity area was inspected by LPA Tate and age-appropriate play structures were observed during today’s inspection. The outdoor play area was fenced and at least 4 feet in height. There is no swimming pool or other bodies of water on the premises. Play structures were free from rust and debris. There were no sharp or protruding objects observed. All play equipment was functional, and no rust was observed. The outdoor play area had sand throughout, and holes were observed. LPA Tate asked Director Virgil what her protocol to maintain a safe play environment in the outdoor activity space and she stated that due to high wind advisory the children have not been outside playing, however, she normally fills the holes before children play. LPA discussed potential long-term solutions to this problem with Director Virgil.
The kitchen area was maintained to regulatory standard and free of any pests or rodents. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medication and other hazardous items are made inaccessible to children in care by being placed within a high cabinet in the kitchen area. The kitchen is always kept locked with a bolt latch that is approximately 6 feet high and not accessible to children in care. A current menu for the month is posted and no children have any food allergies. The licensed facility provides snacks only and all food is maintained sanitary. Any expired food is thrown away within a sealed container and disposed of immediately. All trash cans were observed to have tight fitting garbage bags free of flies, mold, or any pests.
A thorough file review was conducted on staff and children’s files. LPA Tate reviewed a sample of children’s files, and they were complete with necessary emergency contact information and all required forms were present and complete. LPA Tate conducted a file review for staff and observed all training to be current. Director Virgil’s Mandated Reporter training certificate that adheres to AB1207 is due to expire on 8/7/2026 and her Pediatric CPR/First Aid is due to expire on 3/18/2025. All staff files were complete with necessary forms and signed appropriately.
