Cleaning supplies and disinfectants were noted to be stored out of children's reach. The licensee stated that no guns or weapons are present in the home. No baby walkers, bouncers, or similar equipment were seen in the childcare areas. The licensee was reminded that smoking is not allowed in the family childcare home.
LPA observed four cribs in the playroom. All cribs were observed to be free of toys, blankets, or pillows inside. The mattresses fit their dimensions, and the bedsheets were snugly secured.
The licensee is utilizing an app called Brightwheel to keep track of the infants' sleep logs, children’s, and personnel records. Upon reviewing the 15-minute sleep logs, it was confirmed that each entry included a complete 15-minute increment check along with the child's name. LPA reminded the licensee to ensure that these logs are readily available for printing if the Department requests a copy. Additionally, LPA informed the licensee that sleeping sacks are prohibited.
Temporary absence was discussed, and the licensee's questions or inquiries were answered.
LPA reviewed the records for both children and personnel. The licensee keeps an accurate record of the child, including vaccination records, parental rights forms, and complete emergency information. The licensee has maintained records of all essential licensing requirements, such as necessary immunizations, valid Pediatric First Aid CPR certification, and a mandated reporter training certificate. However, the licensees did not have a record of the assistant. The licensee indicated that the assistant was evaluated to determine her suitability for the position. As a result, she has yet to request all the records and has only requested the assistant to obtain the criminal record clearance.
All the required licensing postings were observed posted. According to the licensee, regular fire and earthquake drills are conducted at least once every six months, with the most recent drills completed on 3/10/2025.
