32 | Room measurements were taken and reviewed. The total inside infant area measured to an approximate 505 square feet which will accommodate the requested capacity of 10 infants. The total inside toddler area measured to an approximate 402 square feet which will accommodate the requested capacity of 10 toddlers. Leslie understands that children's equipment needs to match the licensed capacity. Toys and equipment appear to be age appropriate.
Applicant is doing the following to provide accessible drinking water to children in care: Applicant will utilize a water vendor service to provide water used for drinking and food preparation. The water dispenser is located in the toddler option classroom. Staff will fill up a pitcher to provide drinking water to the children in the infant classroom. Staff will provide sippy cups for children to consume water. Each cup will be labeled with the child’s name. Staff will fill up an igloo jug with water and bring it outside so children can refill their cups during outside play.
The approximate outside square footage is 4,617 square feet which will accommodate requested capacity of 10 infant children and 10 toddler option children. Each component does not have its own exclusive outdoor activity area and applicant has requested a waiver to share the outdoor area at different times.
LPA observed age appropriate toys and play equipment. Facility is utilizing wood chips to provide adequate cushioning under high climbing play equipment. LPA also observed a concrete area for children to ride tricycles as well as a grass area. Shade is provided by a patio structure. Mature trees provide additional shade. LPA reminded representative to provide adequate supervision at all times.
LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with facility representative and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at: https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep, as an additional resource. LPA also informed facility representative of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at: https://www.cpsc.gov/, and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
Facility representative was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be
