32 | Drinking water is available both indoors and outdoors. Water is provided via bottled water, and children use individual cups. The facility provides morning and afternoon snacks. Bottles and meals for children are provided by parents. Menus are posted at least one week in advance where an authorized representative can view them.
The facility is operating within the capacity and limitations specified on the license. At least one person trained in CPR and Pediatric First Aid is present whenever children are at the facility or participating in offsite activities. The name of the child care center director or a fully qualified teacher designated to act in the director’s absence has been reported to the Department.
All children are under supervision, including visual supervision, of a teacher at all times. The facility is in compliance with teacher-to-child ratios. LPA reviewed a sample of children’s files and observed they were complete, containing contact information for authorized representatives and/or others who can assume responsibility for the child, as well as medical assessments. Infant files also included an Infant Needs and Services Plan and an Individual Infant Sleeping Plan.
A sample of staff files was reviewed. Files were complete with health screenings, immunization records for influenza, pertussis, and measles, and documentation of current mandated reporter training. Staff providing care to infants meet the required educational qualifications.
LPA discussed the Community Care Licensing website (www.ccld.ca.gov), which provides access to resources such as forms, regulations, Provider Information Notices (PINs), and Quarterly Updates.
LPA reviewed reporting requirements with the director as outlined in Title 22 regulations (Section 101212).
Director Leslie Oliveira was reminded that all adults age 18 and over, including employees and volunteers (except as specified in Health and Safety Code Section 1596.871), must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption—or transfer an existing clearance or exemption—prior to initial presence in a child care center. A civil penalty of $100.00 per person, per day, for up to five days—or for up to 30 days in the case of a repeat violation—will be assessed if this regulation is violated. (Continued on LIC809-C)
