25 | On 5/7/24 at 9:00 am, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Joseph Pacheco and Priscilla Zamudio conducted an announced Pre-Licensing inspection for a new license. Upon arrival, LPAs met with Applicant, Juan Gama. Applicant is requesting to be licensed for 80 preschoolers ages 2-5 in the 2 year old classroom, 3 year old classroom and 4-5 year old classroom; 30 infants ages 0-2 in the infant and toddler classrooms; and 30 school age children ages 5-12 in the school age classroom. Hours of operation will be Monday – Friday, 6:30 am – 6:00 pm. This facility will operate year-round.
All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPAs informed Applicant that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities. When medications are on site, Applicant stated that they will be at the front desk in a locked drawer. A fully equipped first aid kit is located in the reception area and at the rear of the building. There are operational carbon monoxide detector on site located in the hallway. All required licensing documents were observed posted in the lobby area. Children will be signed in and out in the lobby area.
LPAs continued to tour the facility and measured all indoor and outdoor activity space. Total indoor activity space for the preschool classrooms measured to an approximate 2,387 square feet which will only accommodate 68 preschool children. Total indoor activity space for the infant classrooms measured to an approximate 983 square feet which will only accommodate 28 infant children. Total indoor activity space for the school age classroom measured to an approximate 894 square feet which will only accommodate 25 school age children. Applicant provided LPAs with an updated application to reflect 68 preschool children, 28 infant children and 25 school age children. LPA observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe, age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, napping cots/mats, cribs, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Infant toys are safe with no sharp edges, splinters, or points, nor made of small parts that can present a choking hazard. Children will bring water bottles from home. Facility has two drinking fountains located in the hallway that will be used to fill the water bottles. LPA observed all hazardous items to be inaccessible to children.
