On 08/23/2024 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Stephanie Vega-Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Case Management Inspection and was met by Licensee, Maria Hernandez. LPA introduced themselves and provided a copy of their business card to the licensee and explained the purpose of the inspection. The purpose of the inspection was to inspect the areas that are accessible to children in care.

Days and hours of operation are 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Friday. The home has working telephone service and LPA confirmed the phone number is (831) 588-0174.

LPA toured the home inside and outside and a census was taken. Current facility sketch reviewed and Licensee confirmed that front room (living room #1), bathroom, and side yard are used for providing care and are accessible to children. The Living Room #1 has a baby fence that makes Living Room #2 inaccessible to children in care. Licensee stated that children are supervised when children need to use the restroom. LPA inspected Living Room #2 and observed various toys on the ground and stacked on bins. Licensee informed LPA that toys belong to their own children. LPA did not observe any dangerous or hazardous objects. LPA was able to walk through the Living Room #2 and to the Restroom with ease. LPA observed that all other rooms are off-limits and made inaccessible by use of gates and doorknob spinners. Licensee opened the doors for the three inaccessible rooms in the house for LPA to inspect. LPA observed that the kitchen was made inaccessible by the use of a baby gate. LPA inspected Living Room #1 and observed various age appropriate, books, furniture, and craft items. LPA did observe loose scissors by the back wall and children’s glue. LPA informed Licensee that it is best practice to keep items out of reach of children. Licensee organized items inside a bin and stated that children are always supervised when doing crafts. The outdoor play area in the side yard is fenced and there are no hazards to children present. LPA was informed by Licensee that she had washed all the outdoor toys and will have two car backsets removed by the end of the month. LPA did not observe any dangerous or hazardous objects. There are three outdoor cats. Licensee understands the liability of pets around day care children and accepts responsibilities of any action taken by pets.
