25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Marilou Monico and Andrea Cortez, met with Program Director, Laura Dunn, for a Case Management inspection in response to licensee's request to move back from Classroom 3 to the original location with new portable. LPAs toured the facility both indoor and outdoor as well as measured the indoor space available for the children.
Indoor measurements are as follows:
Apple Pie Room: 39.25 x 22.92 = 899.61 minus 107.81 (encumbered space) = 791.80
Total preschool indoor space = 791.80 divided by 35 sq. ft. = 22 children
There are two (2) sinks and two (2) toilets available for the children. The classroom has three (3) tables, 10 mats, five (5) chairs, and 25 cubbies. Additional chairs, tables and furniture will be moved to the classroom from Classroom 3 once licensed. There is a fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguisher (last serviced: 03/28/24), functioning carbon monoxide and smoke detectors. Drinking water will be provided to the children via water dispenser and individual water bottles. LPAs observed toys and equipment that is age appropriate and safe for day care children. There is a staff bathroom located in the Office Building. The sick children will be isolated in the health aide area located in the Office Building. The sick children will use the staff bathroom if needed and will be accompanied by a staff member.
The facility offers a half day and full day program and serves morning/afternoon snacks and lunch to the children enrolled. The food is provided through the Carmel Unified School District and is brought to the school daily. Food shall be stored in the cafeteria and brought to the classroom when food is to be served.
