25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Andrea Cortez conducted an announced Pre-licensing for a Small Family Child Care Home. LPA was greeted and granted access to home by Applicant, Yazmin Rios. LPA explained the pre-licensing inspection process and toured the home.
Applicant’s hours of operation are Monday through Saturday 3:00am to 5:00pm.
LPA toured the indoor and outdoor areas of the home during inspection. LPA verified the facility Sketch LIC999A submitted to the department with the layout of the home to confirm the on and off limits.
Off Limits Areas: Bedrooms 1,2,3, master bedroom and master bathroom, laundry room, and garage On Limit Areas: Kitchen/dining area, living room, and backyard.
LPA explained the Fire drills are to be conducted are every 6 months. The Applicant understands the importance of maintaining a current children's' roster. The Applicant has a working cell phone in the home. LPA observed toys and play equipment for the day care children. All detergents, cleaning compounds, other similar items and poisons are inaccessible to children.
LPA observed a fully charged fire extinguisher in the kitchen. There are working smoke & carbon monoxide detectors in the home. LPA did not observe any bodies of water. The Applicant understands that all pools, spas, hot tubs, fishponds, or similar bodies of water shall be covered or fenced as specified in Title 22 regulations to be inaccessible to children. Applicant states that there are no weapons or firearms in the home.
Yazmin Rios was reminded that all adults 18 and over living in the home, persons who provide care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
