32 | LPA reviewed with applicant the LIC 311D, Forms/Records to Keep in your Family Child Care Home, children’s forms/records, facility forms/records, and information to be posted. Entrance Checklist was provided to applicant.
LPA conducted a walkthrough of the indoor areas. Applicant stated that meals, snacks, and drinks would be prepared by them. Off-limit areas included all of upstairs(gated), and attached garage. LPA observed a functioning smoke detector, a carbon monoxide detector, and a working telephone. LPA advised applicant to complete annual maintenance on the fire extinguisher. LPA provided applicant with a fire and emergency disaster drill log and informed them that drills should be conducted every six months. Applicant acknowledged that smoking was not allowed. No fireplaces or open-faced heaters were observed. Applicant confirmed that no firearms or ammunition were stored in the home. Applicant stated they understood the procedure for separating ill children.
LPA observed that the outdoor area was securely fenced and locked. Applicant stated that there were no off-limit areas. No bodies of water were observed. Protective surfacing is available, and no hazardous materials were accessible.
Applicant was reminded that if they chose to transport children, a valid driver’s license was required. LPA informed applicant that children could not be left unattended in vehicles, car seats were for transportation only, and adequate booster seats and car seats must be available for safe transport.
LPA informed applicant that if cribs or play yards were used for infants, there must be one for each infant unable to climb out and that clear access for entry and exit must be maintained. LPA explained that mattresses must be firm, properly fitted, and covered with fitted sheets. Cribs and play yards must remain free of loose items, bumper pads, and any objects hanging or attached to the sides. Applicant was reminded that baby walkers, bouncers, and jumpers were not permitted and that infants could not be swaddled while in care
