25 | At 2:55pm on 5/1/23, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Matthew Gallo met with Licensee Sherri Foucht for the purpose of an unannounced required 1-year inspection. Upon arrival, LPA observed a census of 5 children composed of 1 infant, 3 preschool children, and 1 school-aged child. Operating hours are 6am-6pm, Monday-Friday.
Licensee guided LPA on a tour of the facility, and a health and safety inspection was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Prior to inspection, off-limits areas included all upstairs, garage, and family room in the back of the house. During inspection, licensee requested that Master bedroom and far right upstairs bedroom be moved to on-limits. LPA conducted a health and safety inspection in these new areas, and going forward the off-limit areas will be limited to: upstairs bedroom immediately right to the stairs, garage, and family room in back of home. Licensee acknowledged that children must never enter these areas. LPA observed the required postings, a working phone, 2A10BC fire extinguisher, and functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Per Licensee, there are no weapons in the home. Toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Fireplace is barricaded to prevent access by children. Stairs are properly fenced to prevent access to children. Outdoor play space is fenced.
LPA did not observe any current bodies of water at the home. However, licensee is in the planning process of installing an above-ground pool in their backyard. LPA explained the fencing requirements regarding bodies of water, and Licensee will keep LPA updated as to when construction begins.
All individuals subject to criminal background review have obtained a criminal record clearance. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
