25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Matthew Gallo met with Licensee Juan Aguilar for the purpose of an unannounced required 1-year inspection. Two assistants were also present. At 1:50pm, LPA observed a total census of 12 children, including 6 infants and 6 preschool children.
Licensee guided LPA on a tour of the facility, and a health and safety inspection was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Off-limits areas include the laundry room, garage and bathroom #2 (located in bedroom #2). Licensee acknowledged that children must never enter these areas. LPAs observed the required postings, a working phone, 2A10BC fire extinguisher, and functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. LPA observed a firearm weapon and ammo stored properly per regulations. LPA did not observe bodies of water at the facility. Knives are safely stored away from the reach of children. However, LPA observed poison ant traps placed on the bottom shelf of the kitchen's undersink cabinet, which lacked any locks or restrictions to child access. Fireplace is barricaded to prevent access by children and there are no stairs in the home. Outdoor play space is fenced.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
LPA reviewed 12 children’s files that were observed to be complete. A current roster is being maintained and fire and disaster drills are documented. Current CPR and First Aid certification for licensee was verified and expires 4/2024, and AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training was verified for the Licensee and expires 4/24. Of licensee's two assistants, neither had completed the required Mandated Reporter training. (Report continues LIC809-C). |
