25 | At approximately 10:10am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Matthew Gallo met with facility representatives Andorra Fierro and Kalindra Gilkeson for the purpose of an announced case management visit to return the facility from an inactive to active status.
LPA toured the building and conducted a health and safety inspection in all activity and classroom spaces, restrooms, food service and outdoor play areas. All necessary postings were observed. Director stated there were no poisons or firearms on the premises, and LPA did not observe any bodies of water. All toxic and hazardous items were inaccessible to children. Functional carbon monoxide detector and smoke detector were present. Furniture and equipment were in good condition and floors were clean throughout the facility. Playground equipment and surfaces were free of loose or sharp parts, and the areas underneath or around climbing equipment were sufficiently cushioned with wood chips. Program provides lunch and AM&PM snacks and menus were posted in visible sight. The food preparation space was free of litter, all food was protected against contamination, and storage containers with solid waste had tight-fitting covers. Drinking water was readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. Sufficient napping equipment was available.
Criminal record clearances were verified, and facility representative was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
