Licensing Program Analyst (LPAs), Dianna Valdez Santana and Patricia Duron conducted an unannounced Case Management visit for the purpose to discuss the Lead Sampling re-testing conducted on 10/27/2022. LPAs met with Director, Deanne Walkwitz, who was explained the reason for today’s visit. LPAs observed 46 preschool children in care.

Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018 requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCC’s) constructed before January 1, 2010 to test their drinking water for lead contamination between January 1, 2020 and January 1, 2023, and then every five years after the date of the first test.

Community Care Licensing was notified that lead water testing conducted at the facility on 10/27/2022 failed the allowable limit for lead. The Purpose of today’s visit is to follow up lead re-testing results of Action Level Exceedances (ALE). Facility had a Plan of Correction and retested outlet F, which was re-flushed for three weeks (10/1/22-11/09/22). Director met with a water testing analyst consultant on 12/13/22 to discuss the second test failure, they will be adding an “angle stop” to prevent water stagnation that is likely causing the elevated levels of lead. Facility will retest and flush once angle stop attachment is added to the new fixture. Director, will be requesting a POC extension via email.

Facility staff was advised on 12/12/2022 that the Lead Sample Report was to be posted. LPAs observed the facility had posted the Lead Sample Report.
