During the investigation, LPA interviewed eight staff, five parents, eight children and reviewed facility roster, children’s daily reports, and staff daily schedules. In regard to the allegation of teachers not adequately supervising the day care children during bathroom time, staff interviewed reported that every class has their own assigned bathroom, and all children all monitored during bathroom time. Some classes have assigned spaces in the bathroom to ensure children are being monitored. In classroom 6,7,8 staff reported that they always have two teachers that assist during toileting time and they are within regulatory compliance. Another staff reported that room 7, 8, and 9 bathrooms are located outside of the classroom and teachers escort the children to use the bathroom which may get chaotic because the children know that the teacher’s attention maybe focused on assisting other children, but the children are monitored. Staff reports that children are counted before entering and after exiting to ensure all children are accounted for. Children interviewed reported that a teacher is always present when they use the bathroom and the teacher helps them.
In regard to the allegation of staff not alerting the authorized representative with problems that occur during the day. It was reported that management wouldn’t allow teachers to address concerns of a child’s development with parents when it was believed that a more extensive program may better meet the child’s needs. All staff reported that written daily reports are provided to the parents which summarizes each child’s behaviors (good/challenging), observations, feeding, and toileting. In addition, staff also communicates to parents by email and telephone as needed. Staff interviewed all reported that all children experiences and observations (good/challenging) are all adequately reported to parents and this protocol is a direct direction from management. Parents reported that they are very satisfied with the care and supervision their children receive, and daily communication about children’s day are communicated. Parents interviewed reported no concerns. ***continued on page 3***
