32 | If a child does not want to eat, there are other options and if staff know a child is picky, staff will ask parents if they can bring their own snacks, but it must be nut-free and nutritional. Parents are notified via app.
6 out 6 staff stated children bring their own water bottles and staff refill them throughout the day. Every class has a water pitcher to refill the bottles. If a child does not bring the water bottle, staff have plastic cups available. 6 out 6 staff stated children are served enough snack and more is provided if needed. If children want more food, they are given more. If a child does not eat, they are still served and encouraged. If a child still does not want to eat, staff will inform parents on the app and are encouraged to bring snacks from home.
S1 disclosed in regards to supervision, staff conduct “name to face” counting and have a “name to face” document, there is a section for transitions and teachers must document that on the form. When staff are outside, staff are to spread out and not sit down, constantly walk around and add aides to help outside with supervision. S1 denied observing teachers talk to one another in between doorways and not adequately supervising the children, during transitions S1 and staff #2 (S2) walk around in case teachers need additional support. S1 hasn’t seen anyone doing that.
S2 stated, that staff are encouraged to walk around, spread out and not sit when watching the children outside, not stand together and do name to face. 4 out of 6 staff denied or witnessing any staff “talking to each other in the doorway of a class instead of watching the kids”.
S1 stated in regard to cleaning the facility, the facility currently does not have a cleaning crew. The staff members are cleaning the classrooms, such as, wiping down the table, sweep, mop and vacuum the floor, and take out their trash, they are given time at the end of the day to clean. S1 checks to make sure whatever doesn’t get done, S1 will do it and so will S2. S1 also stated that if time allows staff will take turns cleaning the bathrooms but it is mainly S1 and S2 that clean then. Sometimes, they will offer the aides additional hours and they will help as well. S2 stated at the end of the day the teachers clean their classrooms. Whatever teachers may not finish S2 and S1 will finish for them. Staff 3 (S3) stated, staff clean 3 times a week, deep cleaning, we mop, and vacuum. Disinfecting throughout the day, before and after meals and after activities. S3 has never seen the facility to be unsanitary for children. Staff #4 (S4) disclosed that staff clean the classrooms daily, staff maintain the facility sufficiently clean. Staff #5 (S5) stated staff clean 3 times a day for meals and after activities. Staff are given time to clean. Staff #6 (S6) disclosed that staff clean after every meal, wiping down tables, sweeping, cleaning up as they go. S6 thinks everybody tries to do their part. Page 3 of 4
